Hello to my ADHD peeps and ADHD loved ones,

During the middle years I will be talking about my time in high school that I ended up “participating” in. I don’t know how much I learned, but I can tell you it wasn’t much.  I will also be discussing the five years I spent in the military. This is what I will be considering the middle years, they are the years that I was not treating my ADHD as well as when I was experiencing some of my more severe symptoms of ADHD.

I’m sure you’re now wondering why I stopped treating my ADHD when it was working so well? The reason I stopped treating my ADHD is because I wanted to join the military from a very young age, and they don’t allow you to be on ADHD medication.

I was four years old when the first Toy Story came out. From the first time I watched it, I always thought the little green army soldiers were the coolest characters, and I decided that I wanted to be one of them. As silly as it sounds, that movie significantly impacted me and created an unwavering desire to become a soldier. As I got older, I did some research and learned that in order to be in the military I had to be off of ADHD medication and be able to show that I could go without it. So, when I graduated 8th grade and was moving on to high school, I took the plunge and stopped taking my medication. This ended up creating some of the harder years of my life…

    1. It was a hard choice, but I don’t think I would be where I am at today if I hadn’t made these choices. Thank you for your insight and I am glad that you are enjoying the blog. Thank you so much.
