Hello to my ADHD peeps, and ADHD loved ones. Today I am going to do some soft updates because I am experiencing some extreme writers block and I can’t for the life of me breakthrough it.

I have now been in medical school for two months and have taken three exams. I must say the tests don’t get any easier. The material is hard, but a lot of it is extremely interesting, we just finished learning a lot of Biochemistry and the block before was on Immunology. I have been experimenting with new styles of learning and trying to find my exact study pattern I want to use for medical school. I believe it just needs a little bit more tweaking before I am able to perfect it. I’ve really been reminded of how important it is to experiment and find what works for you. Medical school is a completely different beast than undergraduate coursework and I’m having to adjust my studying to reflect that. I have been taking some classes with Medical Spanish which have been really fun. It is amazing to learn how to communicate with patients in English and then start progressing towards being able to communicate with patients effectively with Spanish. It is a challenge, but I am hoping that I am able to keep it up because I enjoy it. These classes are actually an important factor in why I chose the school I did. I had a shadowing experience where the physician started speaking Spanish to a patient and the relief and joy, I saw in the patient had a powerful effect on me and I want to be able to do that for my patients. The other extra thing I have been doing is attending an Emergency Medicine Interest Group. It is amazing to see just how much the second-year students know. I know that in just a short year I will be a lot more like them, but at this point it doesn’t seem like I am any closer to being fluent while talking and discussing strategies on how to treat a patient.

Overall, I am enjoying it. I live a life of stress, but I must say compared to undergrad it is an absolute treat. I am glad that I don’t have to spend every waking minute freaking out that I don’t know one miniscule detail that my teacher discussed. Thank you for joining on this journey with me.

Anyway, if you have anything you want me to talk about throw it at me because I am really experiencing a writer’s block right now.
